Oracle Data Integration In The Cloud Era: Overview and Solution Updates Webinar Preview
This blog post provides a preview of the content the Performance Architects and Oracle teams will discuss during a free, live webinar on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at 3:00 PM EST entitled “Oracle Data Integration in the Cloud Era: Overview and Solution Updates.” Register here to attend the webinar!
Over the past 18 months, we have experienced the acceleration of enterprise performance management (EPM) and analytics (which includes business intelligence or BI) cloud offerings and solutions arriving in the marketplace, both specifically from Oracle, as well as generally in the software industry. We’ve also seen the drastic reduction in friction when it comes to procurement and purchase for cloud solutions. In many cases these aren’t IT-led purchases anymore, but instead are implementations led directly by functional business users. But then, sometimes as early as week two of a cloud solution implementation project, IT gets a call to figure out and to execute integrating data into and out of this solution!
We now live in a world where an organization’s ERP might be located on-premises; the budgeting, forecasting, and planning and HR systems may be a software-as-a-service (SaaS or cloud) solutions; and the company’s analytics (BI) capabilities may be provided in a separate cloud environment.
Most of these systems share common data points. For example, a “Department” segment or employee salary expense likely is shared in every one of these systems. Keeping all of this in sync presents a unique challenge. And how can IT react quickly and efficiently to bring these tools into the fold and supply the business with critical, timely information?
Traditionally, when these systems were located on-premises, we used direct database connections to help push information around, or solutions came with a pre-built adapter to help maintain integrity between applications. Take Oracle Hyperion Planning, for example. When implemented on-premises, the solution comes with Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Management Enterprise Edition (FDMEE), which is capable of directly sourcing information from a general ledger (GL) solution.
Today, it is a vastly different world. We now live in a world of REST APIs and flat files, which move data from server, to cloud, and back to server again! Sometimes, we even have to integrate across clouds. In this rapidly evolving space, we require new methodologies and approaches to data integration (DI). We’ve entered a new “era” of DI.
During this webinar, we will discuss master data management and data governance processes and solutions in relation to Oracle Corporation’s capabilities. Darrin Pollino from Oracle Corporation will join the webinar to specifically cover the role of Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud Service (EDMCS) in Oracle’s data management and integration offerings.
